Test Strategies and Pre-Test

Page history last edited by Pete Nelson 2 yrs ago

Name:  Pete Nelson

Subject: Biology I

Period:  2nd

Approximate Time:  50 minutes

Bell Work: What topics are you most interested in for biology? Which ones do you think will need the most work?

Objectives:

The student will…

  1. Demonstrate current understanding of science focusing on the concepts of the cell, genetics, ecology, and natural selection. (MSF Biology I 3,5,6,7)
  2. Review rules and procedures for taking a test.

Materials:

Biology I pre-test, white board, markers, erasers, pens, pencils

Set:

In order to know your science level, we (the teachers) must give you a pre-test to see what you know.  The pre-test will give us information that will help us teach you better.

Procedure:

1. Explain test taking protocol

    2. Distribute tests

    3. If time permits, discuss strengths and weaknesses after the test.

Closure:

Explain what you will do tomorrow.

Assessment/Evaluation:

Students current understanding of science will be assessed the pre-test(M).  The pre-test will be used to determine student’s prior biological knowledge about the cell, genetics, ecology, and natural selection (C).  This information will be analyzed by the teachers to identify where a student needs the most help.  It will also be used as a measurement tool to see the growth of the students over the summer school time frame.  This grade will be recorded in the gradebook, but it will not hold any academic weight (D).
